In 1947 Jock and Ida Reid moved their family to Canberra. Jock established Pinus Timbermills in 1947 at the Causeway near the Kingston Railway Station. Several years later Pinus Timbermills moved to the industrial estate in Whyalla St Fyshwick. In 1963 Pinus Timbermills officially became Pinus Sawmills Pty Ltd. Jock’s son, Donald, became a part of the team and began to modernise the company with new equipment and machinery. The company moved to larger premises in the Queanbeyan industrial estate
